Collin-

What new team are you in?

I have been placed on the foundation team, as well as the lighting team.

How do you feel about our progress? About the design we’re moving forward with?

I feel the class and the LAMA foundation chose a design that exemplifies both ENVD’s standards as well as LAMA’s morals and characteristics. I’m very interested to see what each individual team puts forth in order to make the design their own.

Any surprises or challenges coming up?

By being on the foundation team, we literally hold everything up. Because of this, we have to solidify our design and start progressing to allow for the rest of the teams to continue moving forward. We have the foundation system figured out (perma-columns which are basically steel piers in the ground) but we are finding it hard to find a dealer to supply these in the time and price range we have budgeted for.

How has your perception of the project changed so far?

I have moved from the mindset of overall system, to individual details. It is great that we have a design picked, but now the hard part is bringing it into reality. I really like this aspect because it’s a realm in which we normally don’t delve into.

Madigan-

What new team are you in?

I am working on doors for the shower house. We are designing three barn doors on a single track around the showers. We plan to build the doors out of wood, 30” wide and 6’8” tall.

How do you feel about our progress? About the design we’re moving forward with?

I feel good about our progress. It is still early, but I think we are all on task and motivated to make this a beautiful and functional shower house. The communication between task groups is great; it’s making for fast progress!

What are you looking forward to? Any surprises or challenges coming up?

I am looking forward to building these doors! I think it will be a challenge because they are a key element of both beauty and functionality. They are potentially one of the “wow” factors that we implement into our shower house at Lama.

How has your perception of the project changed so far?

My perception of the project has changed because before, the design was completely individual, but now it is a group effort to design the parts and pieces, and the experience is much more communication based. The project is now a group effort which makes it more manageable, but also requires meshing of all our unique thoughts.
